Ordered this unit here on a Saturday night and it was delivered on the following Tuesday. The set arrived early in the 3 hour delivery window. I will not duplicate the praise that other reviewers have heaped on this plasma TV. However, I would like to share my difficulties connecting the set to Verizon FIOS Internet routers.
I tried connecting the TV to the Internet with FIOS with both the optional wireless USB adapter and by direct connection with CAT 5 cable through Ethernet. Both methods failed when using the automatic settings. I was finally able to successfully connect only by manually changing the Network settings. Here are the settings you should use:

Once you get the very easy settings done right, you’ll be absolutely blown away by HD programs. Simply richer than any of the LED/LCD sets, and the standard for plasma. Without getting into the technical aspects, just comp shop and you’ll be pleased to know that if picture quality is high on your list, you will not be disappointed. Just run your sound through a quality system and sit back and be impressed. As for Amazon service, they did me right. The first set was delivered with a cracked display. After rejecting the delivery I simply called Amazon and had a confirmation e-mail stating that a new set had shipped within 3 hours of the call! No problems, no hassles.

This TV was viewed at Best Buy, along with several TVs. It was as sharp and clear as any TV in the store. The picture has great blacks and striking realistic picture and colors. It has good sound even though I usually listen with a Onkyo 7.1 surround system hooked up to it.
Pros:1. This TV has no buzzing sounds often noticed on older Plasma TV’s.
2. TV has a very clear picture with great color and even better Blacks.
3. My old 2008 Sony 52 inch TV cost approx 4X THE PRICE OF THIS TV.
4. This TV looks more realistic than my old Sony with colors that are not overstated or phony looking.
Cons 1. This TV is only 720p not the 1080p I was looking for. Yet it is clearer and sharper looking than the SONY when it was new.
2. This TV has no internet capabilities, but this is OK because I own a Play Station 3 and get the internet (Netflix etc.) though it.
3. First TV arrived with broken screen, but in two days I had a new TV that worked wonderfully.

I’ve recently purchased both this tv and the D550 from Best Buy, spending a few hundred more on the D550. This tv replaced the old tube tv downstairs and the D550 replaced a 37″ lcd in our living room. After bringing both of these mammoths home, setting them up, and watching a few movies on each of them… both my wife and I decided that we can’t tell any big difference the D550 has over the D450 picture quality wise. In fact, I think the blacks are deeper on this model! Long story short, we returned the D550 and purchased this model for the living room too, saving a few hundred bucks! The only advantage the D550 had was the 3D display, which will only make you spend more money on 3D equipment. This tv offers unbelievable value!

I had the 2010 version of this TV. Loved it but the cleaners broke the glass after only 9 months. Repairs ran at $1000 so had to get a new TV. Found this one on Amazon. Picture quality is absolutely superb (as good as LED TV’s priced 3 times). This one is thinner than its predessor and an inch larger. All in all a great buy!

This TV is amazing. I just upgraded from a 42 inch LCD and I could instantly notice a difference in the sharpness and color of the plasma.

I know my 3-star review is harsh. This TV has a good picture, and the “Netcast” applications are pretty good. We’re heavy Netflix streaming users, and the built-in Netflix app is quite usable. YouTube is also usable, although the user interface is completely different from the Netflix application.
However, I have to knock off a couple of stars for a truly terrible design choice. Like most higher-end TVs, this one implements the HDMI-CEC standard (under the brand name “Simplink”) to let you control other components with your TV remote. For example, it’s supposed to be able to automatically turn on your home theater receiver when you turn on your TV, and control the receiver volume with your TV remote control.
Sure enough, in the TV’s Simplink menu I can switch it to use my Home Theater for audio, and the LG duly turns off its internal speakers and routes audio over the HDMI cable. When I turn off the TV, it automatically turns off my receiver. But, when I turn the TV back on, it rev

I purchased this about a week ago for under 1200 bucks by using my amazon card. Great steal I think, especially for a 60 inch TV. Picture looks great. Yes maybe LED has better viewing for some things, but overall a great TV. The glare can be an issue for some people, but I thought it wasn’t that bad once the shades were closed. My door was open and it gave one from a certain viewing point, but I moved. 3D was easily used…
Audio questions… I found a converter using the optical audio from TV into a converter, found here on amazon for 30 bucks. This then allows me to use my AV cables into my surround sound. Have not received it yet, but I am sure it will work OK. Update to come on that one. But for 35 bucks, with the optical cable, beats buying a whole new surround system for over 200 bucks. I have a sony now that still works and sounds great.
60 inch TV, 3D blu ray, and two glasses all for 1230 bucks. I am amazed and very happy…..
TV is heavier than I thought though. Able to

3D Technology Checklist
This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:
![]() |
A Display First, you’ll need a 3D-ready display–whether it’s a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession. |
![]() |
A Source Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you’ll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system. |
![]() |
3D Content 3D content–the actual entertainment, in other words–will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it’s a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game. |
![]() |
3D Glasses For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered “active shutter” glasses, others polarized “passive” glasses. You’ll need one pair per viewer, and they’ll have to be compatible with your display, whether they’re the same brand, or a pair of “universal” glasses designed to work across brands. |
![]() |
HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you’ll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality. |
| If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, we invite you to visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D. | |
Internet-Ready Devices

Internet-ready devices use your broadband connection to deliver dynamic content to your television, whether it’s streaming video from Netflix, new music from Pandora, or a quick glance at today’s weather forecast.
Although there is overlap, each manufacturer offers a unique bundle of free or paid services, including streaming video and music, social networking apps, online photo galleries, news and financial updates, weather info, sports scores, and a variety of other smartphone-like applications.
Manufacturers continue to add new content to their offerings, keeping customers current through firmware updates, and making a bit of research a prudent step in your buying decision.

Samsung’s D8000 series makes a great entry-point for 3D Plasma HDTVs. With a 1080p resolution, an ultra fast response time, and 600Hz subfield motion technology, you get a crystal-clear image. Connect a USB flash drive to enjoy some video, music, or pictures. Better yet, add a Blu-ray 3D player and some Samsung 3D glasses, and you’ll have access to ultra-immersive 3D entertainment. 3D glasses not included in box, must be purchased as optional accessory.
Make the Most of Movie Night
Plasma Display
Samsung’s Plasma HDTVs deliver all the bold contrast and color of plasma, with the advanced features and design that Samsung is known for. Compared to other types of displays, Plasma offers high contrast ratios, gorgeously saturated colors, and allows for wide viewing angles, so every seat in the house is a great one.
3D Picture Performance
See how 3D HD movies and sports come alive with depth and action that leap from the screen. Connect a Blu-ray 3D Player or other 3D device and enjoy an immersive experience (Samsung active 3D glasses required, sold separately). The processing can even be applied to broadcast TV, gaming content and legacy DVDs to automatically convert 2D viewing into 3D in real time. If you’re not in the 3D mood, you’re back to watching one of the best quality HDTVs on the market with the push of a button.
600Hz Subfield HD Motion
For TV shows and movies, 600Hz subfield motion technology renders even the fastest-moving scenes with the utmost clarity and precision, so that each detail is crystal-clear. 600Hz subfield motion is a measurement for comparing Plasma pixel response and screen refresh rates to that of LCD/LED displays.
1080p Full HD With Four HDMI Inputs
The PN59D8000 delivers Full HD 1080p resolution, for a superb level of detail and clarity in your picture. To connect your sources, four HDMI inputs are provided, for delivering a Full HD picture and audio over a single cable.
“Plus One” Design
Samsung’s Plasma Plus One Design sets this TV apart, with a bigger picture and a narrower outer frame, for an extra inch of screen compared to similarly sized competitors’ models.
Ultra-Fast Response Time
A fast .001ms response time optimizes fast motion video content. Because it can track fast-moving images without motion blur, plasma is ideal for watching action-packed sports or playing video games.
ConnectShare Movie
Connect a thumb drive or digital camera quickly and easily via the PN59D8000′s USB port. An intuitive, user-friendly interface allows access to videos, music, or pictures via the remote.
Real Black Filter
Sometimes you can’t keep sunlight or house lights from shining right on your TV screen. With Real Black Filter, you can still get an amazing picture even with reflective light. It improves image contrast by surpassing the amount of external light that’s reflected. So daytime viewing is improved for a crystal-clear picture and dark detail is crisp and well-defined. Real Black Filter especially helps maintain a high contrast so even your nighttime viewing features rich blacks and realistic images.
Quality Sound
Get crisp, clear sound with 10 watts through two speakers and advanced SRS technology. SRS’ TheaterSound, available in new Samsung HDTVs, is an all-in-one audio suite that directly addresses the three most common consumer TV audio complaints–inconsistent volume levels, unintelligible vocals, and poor, dimension-less sound.
ENERGY STAR Compliant
The PN59D8000 exceeds the strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and US Department of Energy.

I bought this from Paul’s TV (fulfilled by Amazon). It arrived with a cracked(10″+ star in top corner) with no damage on the box. Not sure what explanation for this may be. After refusing the delivery, I called up the local store (Magnolia) and ordered one from there. My mistake was that we never actually saw one in person.
As soon as we plugged it in, both my wife and I noticed significant orange tint. No matter what we tried, we could not get white to look like… well white. After applying calibration numbers found online, we got decent whites, but nevertheless the image was muted even at the highest cell light. I understand people prefer that and I agree that it did look nice watching a movie at 12am. The image simply lacks colour pop. We put IceAge on it side-by-size with a SHARP 60″ LED and the $1.5K SHARP showed much better wowing colours. Again, i’m not talking about accurate colours, but vivid colours.
We then went to both BestBuy and Magnolia show room, and surprise-surpr

I am an audio/videophile and as picky as they get and this TV is simply perfect. I owned last years version on this set and it is a huge upgrade. Love it. Thanks Amazon!

I want to say that I am not well versed in the audio/video arena, but I know what looks good to me. I purchased this TV from Amazon (Paul’s TV) based on reviews on Amazon, CNET, and a few other sites. This TV is great. The size is perfect (for my room at least) and the quality of the picture is amazing. I have have this hooked up to a Denon AVR-1312 and Polk Audio Blackstone TL2600 speaker set. This setup is not top of the line by any means, but all of this comes highly recommended for me.

The picture on the PN51D7000 is nothing short of stunning. It took me back to when HDTVs first came out and it didn’t matter what you were watching because it looked so damned good. At least that’s how I’m justifying watching 20 minutes of dung beetle footage. The colors are vibrant and the picture is sharp. There is absolutely no motion blur on even the fastest-paced action and there’s a naturalness to everything that I’ve found lacking on even the highest end LEDs. My only minor gripe is that the blacks aren’t 100% “inky,” but they’re still great, down to the black pinstripes on a charcoal suit. The physical TV is also beautiful. Given all of the above, and the fact that’s around $1600, I’d call it a veritable steal.
As for delivery, 5 stars. I was able to schedule a reasonable delivery window and it arrived on time, packaged well, and unharmed. The 30-day return policy was also a nice insurance policy even though I didn’t need to take advantage of it.

This is my fourth plasma/ LCD TV and my first 3D. Picture is superb, hooks up to the internet well, no issues at all. 3D is amazing. Many features, great price… I would highly recommend this televison. Only issue is it does not come with glasses, but if you buy from a local store like I did, your can probaly wheel and deal, I got the guy to throw in 2 sets of glasses with my TV. Thats the way to go. Otherwise you could end up paying around 100 to 150 bucks each set.

We purchased the PN51D7000 a few weeks ago and have been loving every minute of it. We watched a lot of HD television on our older 42″ Samsung plasma and always thought it looked good, but with this new TV the HD content looks even more amazing. The picture is sharp, but not unnaturally so, like with the a lot of the LCD LED screens we looked at. The 3D works great as well, we watched a couple movies and not once did my eyes feel strained.
I also love the connectivity of the TV, I hooked it up to our network (through ethernet but it has wireless as well) and it reads movies off our Synology NAS with no problems, and it plays almost all of the movie formats I’ve tried. It wont read ISOs but thats no fault of Samsung or its software. The EHub system can seem a little sluggish at but works well, and looks nice as well. We watch a lot of netflix streamed movies, so not having to turn on the xbox to use it is a nice plus. I’m looking forward to any additional features they add with firm

This is a great TV hands down. Shipping was perfect with no trouble. TV has great color and sound. I would like more HDMI ports, but 3 will do. All I need know is a new surround sound system. I would definitely recommend this TV

A little history:
I bought a Toshiba 55″ LCD for 899 which I thought was an incredible deal at Bestbuy. I bring it home install it and was disappointed. The picture is not that great especially from angles, the picture does look good if you are viewing it straight on. The deal breaker was the audio, it was horrible. It sounded like it was coming for a cardboard box. I returned the TV…
Then I saw this LG on Amazon for an amazing price. I researched everything on the internet for that model and no one had anything bad about it. I love the thin bezel and the ultra slim design of the plasma. It has an amazing picture quality and great sound considering it was just two tv speakers. It has a built-in picture wizard so no need for a tuning DVD.
Pros: everything! and the price
Cons: None so far
It does lack the bells and whistles of more expensive flat screens, but thats why the price is so affordable. If you are looking for a 60″ screen and dont need and extra fancy stuff th

I did a lot of research before I purchased my HDTV. I settled on plasma and narrowed it down to LG, Samsung and Panasonic. Amazon had a great deal on this LG and I took it. The TV is everything I wanted. Picture is great and I would recommend this product to anyone.

I received my Samsung PN43D450 today around 12:35pm
I had to leave before I could setup the TV so when I came back around 3:10pm I opened the box and finally saw this beauty ![]()
It also seemed a little large lol
Once I installed the stand which is very stable, I plugged in the power and HDMI cable, and that is when the Magic really started!!!
This TV accepts 1080p 60Hz from my Denon AVR-1910 and it converts the picture to its native resolution which is 1366×768 @ 720p, but I am telling you
that nobody will notice the difference between this 720p Plasma and an LCD, LED or DLP 1080p.
I sure dont see any difference, but that is because this is a Plasma TV and its sure that for movies, sports and videogames nothing is better period!!!!
I cannot express how happy I am with this purchase, and Samsung is the best on the market.
My next TV will also be a Plasma and maybe 1080p but as of now I do not need it ![]()
Also at 43 inches this TV is pretty huge compared to my LG 32 inch LCD TV.

Absolutely no trouble at all. The picture is beautiful, the casing is beautiful, setting it up was easy as pie. This is the second Samsung plasma I’ve bought and I’m impressed with their quality and ease of use. If you can get this on sale and/or with free shipping, then you can’t beat this tv for quality versus price.

This TV has finally saved me from months of going insane with LCD’s. A few months I tried a philips 40 inch 1080 LCD and a samsung LCD and both of them drove me nuts. Nothing ever fit entirely on the screen, if you adjusted it you’d see that no matter what something was lost on the sides. Nothing was ever consistent, they acted like they had minds of their own, you could never predict the picture quality. Sometimes blue would be blue, sometimes it would be suspiciously different. Movement was the same, sometimes it looked normal, sometimes it didn’t. They were both just one giant mess of inconsistencies that drove me nuts. When I bought this I had finally given up and just decided to get anything cheap that worked and now realize that I should have bought this to begin with. It’s perfect. It looks and acts just like a TV is supposed to. No surprises, no inconsistencies. If you watch something twice, it will look the same twice and movement will all be the same as well. I would never

The PN64D8000 delivers Full HD 1080p resolution, for a superb level of detail and clarity in your picture.
Connect a thumb drive or digital camera quickly and easily via the PN64D8000′s USB port.
The PN64D8000 exceeds the strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and US Department of Energy.

I have had this TV for about 3 months and I am experiencing screen burn. I keep the TV on the wide screen format because I was afraid of this. Most people do not see it but I am worried its just going to get worse. I want to replace the TV but I havent talked to samsung yet about this. I will update review after I talk to them and see what they do about it. I do want to try some optimized settings for the picture to see if that helps. I too thought the TV was the best of the best but am getting worried about it now.

Just got the television delivered yesterday and I am VERY PLEASED with the TV and the overall experience.
I had worries about ordering such a $$$ item from Amazon, but the delivery/setup experience was a BREEZE. I dont expect to have to return the set, but I have 30 days no questions if I feel the need. One thing about the delivery is that I selected a different time than the default. In speaking to the shippers, they told me that they dont get the schedule updates so it seems the delivery default is from 11-3pm. No problem, but something good to know. The delivery company (CEVA) was responsive, called before their arrival and setup/powered on the unit. Very good experience.
Now the TV. Perhaps it is such a jump from my old 4:3 53″ RP Sony, but the picture is just beautiful. The pictures are sharp, vibrant and really pop off of the screen. I used the PIP feature of the TV, and it “seems” that I can only get network out of the PIP rather than from the dish (which makes sen

The most wonderful television I have even owned. Thin, sleek, with a fabulous picture. Best news, it was $500 cheaper than at Best Buy.

I’ve had this tv for six weeks now and we absolutely love it! Let’s get the negatives out of the way first….ok, done. I have not yet found anything I don’t like about this product. No buzzing noises from the speakers and no peeling on the screen from the black filter which have been issues pointed out in other reviews. The picture is fantastic. The base supplied if also very nice, although we are thinking of wall mounting the tv. If anything negative comes up I’ll be sure to post it to the benefit of other reviewers.
Mom of 3
Excellent item. Very happy with purchase. Crisp and clear picture quality. Sound good but much better with surround sound system. On the heavy side, needs two strong people to mount on wall.
Fletcher
Ok, i don’t write reviews, but this one is just too good to not write one. If you are in the market for a TV, this is the one. Great picture, great 3d (which you can use with 2d programming and it’s awesome conversion) and the price is a deal. I can’t say more than buy it, you won’t regret it. The peeling is under control and the other complaints, I don’t see them.

Best Selling TV’s – Reviews
I bought this TV mostly to play PS3 and watch sports and Blu-Ray movies. Last night I watched Avatar and it was simply stunning. The other really impressive moment was watching golf on my TV and then on a LCD HDTV. On the Panasonic, there was absolutely no blur when players were swinging. On the LCD, the swings were choppy due to the lower refresh rate. All in all I’m very happy with this TV and the service I got through Amazon.
Troy
Nice tv for the money but we have to turn off all lights in the room that are angled so that they can reflect on the screen. We didn’t have this problem withe our 6-year old Panasonic 34″ tube tv. Nor do we have it in a 3 year-old plasma panasonic tv.
Otherwise we are still in the process of adjusting the picture and sound. I think it will be pretty good.
Returning 5 days later: Still trying to adjust the picture up to the quality of my older sets as above but without success. The definition I would rate as a 720p rather than 1080p as advertised.
This is disappointing as I was influenced by the Consumer Report which rated it’s predecessor as excellent in picture quality. I’m already looking for an excuse to replace it and wish I had put that $658 toward a higher quality set. This is the first time I have been steered wrong by CR.

We bought Panasonic 3D 42″ TV a couple of weeks ago. Then decided toreplace it with 50″ of the same model. 3D movie appeared to be much better looking on a bigger screen. The setup was fast and straight forward. I also bought Panasonic DMP-BDT110 player. The player got synched easily with the TV (via Viera Cast link), it gives you nice features like ‘shut off the TV, the player shuts off automatically” or “When the player is turned on ,the TV switches the input to the HDMI the player connected to”
Overall we are very happy with the purchase
